Veteran Car Run Accident: Our deepest sympathy
On behalf of the organisers of the Run and all the participants and volunteer staff, we would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Ron Carey, who sadly died in a tragic accident which occurred on the morning of this year’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run.
Our thoughts are particularly with Billi Carey, who was with her husband in the veteran car when the accident occurred. We are pleased to say that Billi was able to return home to Canada not long after the accident and we continue to offer her our support and best wishes for a full recovery.
Ron and Billi were well known and highly respected supporters of the veteran and classic car movement and great automobile enthusiasts. They had taken part in the Run on a number of occasions as well as numerous other veteran car events around the world. In his home town of Calgary, Ron was well known for his philanthropic support of the Heritage Park, including the Gasoline Alley Museum where many of his cars are on display.
We are, of course, working with the police in support of the accident investigation as well as carrying out our own detailed review. If any participants are able to provide information which may be valuable please contact us at VCRadmin@goose.co.uk.
