PRESS RELEASE 17/11/2017

2017 VETERAN CAR RUN: DAVID CORRY

The Royal Automobile Club is deeply saddened by the death of David Corry, the driver of the veteran car involved in the accident during the Veteran Car Run on Sunday 5 November.

David’s family have released the following tribute:

David’s sudden death has left his family devastated. He was a dear father, brother, uncle and good friend.

David grew up in the Sevenoaks area but moved to Scotland in 2006, latterly living in Dunblane where he immersed himself in the community helping out as a volunteer on local projects.

He was an engineer by profession with a passion for veteran cars, most particularly the 1902 Benz which has been in the family since 1934 and which he drove in various events for many years.

David had a curious nature and a heart of gold. He was a unique man who will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

The family wish for their privacy to be respected at this difficult time.

Having been involved with the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run for many years with the Benz, the family would not like this tragedy to affect this important annual event and know that this would also be David’s wish.

The Club has offered the family our deepest condolences and whatever support we are able to provide at this difficult time. The other three passengers in the car are thankfully on the road to recovery.

We are also providing whatever assistance the police require with their accident investigation and have initiated our own review to ensure that we learn any lessons for future Runs.

Should you wish to write to the Corry Family, please do so c/o The Veteran Car Club of Great Britain, Jessamine Court, 15 High Street, Ashwell, Hertfordshire, SG7 5NL, England
